Today I took my parents to visit what is widely considered one of the most unique and beautiful buildings in Shenzhen. (Some people even frame it as a base for aliens 🤣)
Unlike my other reviews, this one is more explanatory.
🗺️ Located northwest corner of the intersection of Langjing Road and No.1 Road, Dalang Street, Longhua District, Shenzhen

I even looked up additional information beforehand 📖. According to various sources, this building took 15 years to complete and cost 1 billion RMB. It was designed by renowned New Zealand architect Fred Van Brandenburg and his son Damien. Many luxury lodges in New Zealand were also designed by Van. The design phase alone took three years.
The creation of the Marisfrolg Building was a beautiful coincidence. In 2006, during a trip to New Zealand 📸, the founder of Marisfrolg(a brand well-known for its artistic style of fashion design) was deeply impressed by the architectural style of several lodges — and discovered they were all designed by the same architect. She contacted Van directly and invited him to design the Marisfiel headquarters.
At that time, Van had just returned from Barcelona after studying the works of Gaudí. Tired of traditional architectural forms, he wanted to explore a new style that blended organic shapes and natural elements.
This is why the entire building adopts a biomorphic, nature‑inspired design. The flowing curves and natural motifs echo rivers, oceans 🌊, leaves, flowers 🌼🌿, definately a modern interpretation of the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which emphasized organic forms and rejected rigid industrial lines.
From the photos I took, you can clearly see how every detail reflects nature: leaf‑shaped thresholds 🌿, fern‑like curled railings 🪴, and rooflines that resemble wings. It feels as if a mysterious living creature is resting here.

Simply admiring the exterior is already a beautiful and immersive experience ✨💞.

Since this is a private company, visitors cannot enter the interior. My parents and I viewed it from outside the railings — under the blue sky and white clouds, it felt peaceful and relaxing. There are also two viewing platforms along the street where visitors can take photos and get a partial glimpse inside.

Friendly Reminder:💕 If the weather is good, remember to bring plenty of sun protection 🌞.
