My best friend and I spent the weekend strolling around UpperHills, and she happened to be craving some stir‑fried dishes with a bit of spice. After browsing through reviews, we finally decided on Wan Chu(皖厨).
🗺️Located on the Outer street in Upperhills (third floor)
🚇Donggualing Metro station on Line 11

🌲 Environment
The environment is genuinely pleasant. The grey‑blue color palette gives the space an elegant and calming feel. Every seating area is comfortable and spacious, with both private rooms and open hall seating available.
However, one issue we encountered was that some seats were directly under the air‑conditioning vents, causing water to drip down. Because of this, we had to switch tables once.

🛎️ Service
The service was excellent. The staff responded promptly to our requests and helped us resolve issues right away. Everything felt smooth and attentive.
🍛 Food
We ordered the two‑person set meal, and the portions were extremely generous.

🌶️ Huangshan Bamboo Shoots Stir‑Fried with Pork
Savory, fragrant, and moderately spicy—slightly spicier than typical Guangdong dishes. The bamboo shoots were crisp and flavorful, and the pork pieces were large and tender. Overall, a very enjoyable dish.

🦐 Garlic Vermicelli Baked Shrimp
The shrimp looked very fresh, though the seasoning was a bit mild. The vermicelli underneath, however, was delicious and soaked up all the flavors.

🥬 Blanched Ji Mao Cai
The vegetables were very fresh, with both green and purple varieties. The presentation alone was appealing. Since it’s simply blanched greens, the flavor was clean and refreshing—great for balancing out heavier dishes.

At the end, they served a complimentary fermented rice cake. It tasted just like the steamed cakes I had when I was a child—soft, fragrant, and delicious.
📚 Overall Impression
Overall, the environment and service were quite good, though the food itself wasn’t particularly impressive. Still, it’s a comfortable spot for family gatherings, meals with colleagues, or a casual get‑together with friends.
